Chinese new year celebration

During the 15 days of Chinese New year whichever house you go to, there will always be good food. Every year, my husband always look forward to my aunt's peranakan food. I've learnt a few dishes and decided to try out when we had some friends over.
Ayam Buah Keluak, Bakwan Kepiting, Ngoh Hiang, Sambal prawn, Chap Chay, Braised duck and Yam paste.
Everyone loved it!

Post christmas party

End of the year was the time for feasting. It's even nicer to have homecook food with few family and friends. I did a post Christmas party with Asian and western mix. The starter is our local hawker dish. Rojak. The ingredients just need chopping up vegetables and fruits that you like. The make or break to the dish is the sauce. It's sweet and spicy. Kong Ba Pau is also another appetizer. You can eat the meat on it's own or with the pau. The main course is po piah. For those who are still feeling the Christmas mood, I had beef lasagna and roast pot beef with root vegetables. A bowl of Fu Zhou to end off evening.

Strawberry theme birthday party

My gals love strawberry and being a strawberry shortcake fan myself, I wanted a theme related to strawberry but not wanting it to be too girly cos most of the kids are boys. So just sticking to the fruit was good.
The invitation card has strawberries on the cake. I made 10 cupcakes and add a punnet of fresh strawberry and a jelly as center piece.

Kids love pinata and of course it was in a shape of strawberry. I had it with black seeds but little did i know that the seeds were actually white.

For the gifts for the children, I made name tag out of the shape of a strawberry. Some scrapbooking incorporated in it.

Planning the party was fun and therapeutic when engaging myself in activities like making the pinata, gifts and cooking.
